Falling For Dannijo

da I've never really been a jewellery lover (gasp). For some reason I just never bought that much of it, but recently I'm starting to open my eyes to it. And then the other day I visited the Dannijo website, and now I'm full on head over heels in love. Their jewellery is so colourful and different; it's a cliche to say but they are statement pieces. I love that the colours really jump out and the shapes are unconventional.

Who are your favourite jewellery designers?

Wish List 21-07

1. Cross Print Blouse by Topshop Unique 2. Metallic Jacquard Shorts by Topshop 3. Silk Joggers by Topshop Boutique 4. Space Dye Beanie by Topshop 5. Studded Messenger Bag by Zara 6. Studded Court Shoes by Zara 7. Cashmere Jumper Dress by Vionnet 8. Twin Romance Ring by Samantha Wills 9. Leaher Skirt by Carven

Finally after 15 days in a row of getting up early, I got to lie in bed and chill out this morning. Technically it's still early, but it's not 7am.

I made a Christmas List the other day. In July. I know. But then I decided it would just be another one of my many wish lists + an iPad 2. So here's a weekend wish list to send me on my way.

Topshop Unique dropped at the end of last week, and to be honest with you, this blouse was the only piece I really liked. The items from the runway that I had my eye on haven't dropped yet (or won't). This blouse was cool though, and very versatile. Boutique also have these silk joggers, of which I already have the short version which I love. These may have to be a buy. Zara's accessories are on fire at the moment ( like always) with these studded courts and messenger bag. Also I've fallen in love with Samantha Wills's jewellery, which will be a big part of my Christmas list. Her jewellery is really eye catching and feminine and there are easy transition pieces from day to night wear.

Have a good weekend x

Red Flash

I was walking to work the other day, stressed out and sleepy, when I saw a woman pass me, and thought 'now that is some killer styling'.

She was wearing a sleeveless leather gilet over a white shirt, plain yet crisp. Her bottom half bore red and blue diamond print trousers, which I have spent the last two hours trying to find, to no avail. And on her feet were red courts. The whole outfit just popped, and I spent the rest of the day thinking 'I need to recreate this outfit'.

So here is my attempt, woefully inadequate in the trouser department. But I would still love to wear this, especially to work. Thus, I am endeavouring to get myself a leather gilet ASAP.

The Two Bandit's new lookbook has served up some pretty covetable jewellery and at the same time, given us a styling masterclass in layering. Everything on here is on my wishlist right now.

Topshop Blazer, Stella McCartney Lace Skirt, Splendid Jersey Tank, 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Messenger Bag,  Zara Sling Back Sandals, Topshop Laser Cut Collar, Topshop Crochet Side Shorts

I'm always a sucker for black and white statement/staple pieces. You can't really go wrong with a classic black or white blazer, a black court shoe, a white t-shirt etc. We even saw a resurgence of the white shoe (a notoriously hard look to nail) on the catwalks of Alexander Wang and Jil Sander for SS12. We all know that those Alexander Wang Joan Pumps were high on the cool-girls hit list.

So here's my black and white wishlist for the coming months. I already own this Topshop blazer in blush pink, but the white one looks somehow sleeker and crisper. Stella McCartney's skirt and Topshop's Shorts would be plain bar the lace detailing which makes them stand out to me. Phillip Lim's white messenger bag is good for essentials, Splendid's tank is essential, and Topshop's geo cut collar is a perfect accessory.

Oh, and those Zara pumps? They're going to be the next big thing; I'm just waiting for the deluge of bloggers wearing them.

Spotted this Alexander Wang Cargo Jacket on FarFetch and figured it's perfect for  nailing some laid-back yet super stylish street style. Yeahhh, you didn't know I knew about alliteration did you? Pair it with Topshop's metallic tube skirt, and Zara's hottest new accessories.

Jacket by Alexander Wang, Shirt by Givenchy, Necklace by Givenchy, Tube Skirt by Topshop, Heels by Zara, Clutch by Zara.

Dior Couture

Yesterday, in a Parisian room papered floor to ceiling with over a million flowers, the most anticipated fashion debut of recent years took place; Raf Simons’ first couture collection for Dior. The Dutchman, who departed from a glorious seven year stint at Jil Sander last season, took up the helm at Dior with huge expectation upon his shoulders and a buzz around him which drew the likes of Marc Jacobs, Alber Elbaz and Azzedine Ala├»a to his show.

Pale pink dresses, floral corsets and clinched in waists gave touches of femininity here, demonstrating Simons’ trait of wearing his heart on his sleeve. However he played with architecture too; wide peplum corsets looking like half-ballgowns were paired with cigarette pants, tuxedo jackets were cut into the classic Bar style of Dior, and the court shoe stilettos were razor sharp. Details on the clothes – a feather-skirted tuxedo dress, a half beaded blazer which rippled as it moved, a paint dripped gown referencing Sterling Ruby – all hinted at the understated brilliance of Simons. He has the ability to add touches which catch the eye and stick in the memory of those who see them.

It could hardly be ignored that a structured and pocketed dress bore exactly the same hue of pink as those which opened Simons’s swansong collection at Raf Simons. All the emotion of that last collection was mirrored here but in the sense that Dior is moving forward. Though he is bound to delve into the archives and give us more notes from Dior’s iconic history, there will undoubtedly be flashes of Simons’ own personal flair as he settles at the house. Not since Galliano left has Dior couture been the romantic and magic fashion affair we loved. Now however, it would seem that both it, and Simons are in the ascension.

P.S. Anyone notice Alber Elbaz's Nike sneakers? What a dude.
